Assisted Living & Remote Healthcare

An ageing population and the increase in people suffering from long term conditions, places an ever growing challenge on the ability of health and social services to deliver quality healthcare to all citizens at an affordable cost.

The interest in how innovative technologies can support home based healthcare has never been greater and market forecasts predict huge growth in the remote healthcare sector and the emerging, consumer focused, mass-market for assisted living devices.

The Medical Innovation Forum brings together all those with an interest in remote healthcare to discuss innovations, fast-track technology transfer, find partners and review opportunities for collaboration and research. The aim is to increase the speed in which innovations can successfully be brought to market.

Discussion Groups include:

Experiences, benefits and challenges of using telemedicine and mobile systems in healthcare applications
Luis Hernandez-Munoz, Electronic, Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, University of Birmingham

Assistive technology for people with dementia: working with all the stakeholders
