Diabetes

Medical technology plays a key role in healthcare for diabetic patients. Diabetes care devices include insulin delivery products such as syringes, pens, injectors, insulin patches and external or implantable pumps. Blood glucose monitoring can reduce the risk of developing complications and slow the progression of the disease and effective wound care reduces the frequency and length of hospital stays.

The Medical Innovation Forum provides an opportunity for clinicians and nursing professionals, specialising in the care of diabetic patients, to meet-up with researches from academia and industry with the aim of collaborating on the development and commercialisation of diabetes care devices.

Discussion Groups include:

Thermal Detection For Diabetes
Dr Sherri Johnstone, Lecturer, School of Engineering, University of Durham
